Health Insurance When You're Unemployed

Losing your job can be very difficult and cause a lot of problems. It could be months until you find another job, depending on the economy and the type of job you're looking for, and you may or may not get unemployment benefits which won't equal 100% of what you were making before. Add onto all those problems the fact that you lost your health insurance, what can you do?

First, if you are married, see what options your spouse has at their job. If they have health insurance, you may have chosen your coverage because it was better, or for other reasons. At this point, however, it may be adequate to cover the both of you. Of course, this is only an option if your spouse has a job that offers health insurance benefits. If they don't work, then both of you don't have health coverage and it's even more important for you to find a way to get coverage.

Second, you might not necessarily have lost your health coverage. If COBRA was available through your employer when you started, you may be able to continue your coverage through your past employer. The main benefit is that you'll be able to continue the same coverage at a group rate. The downfall is that you have to pay 100% of the premiums, whereas before you probably paid a small percentage or your employer paid all the premiums.

You next option is to get your own policy. Individual policies are typically more expensive than group rates you would get through COBRA, but only comparing the coverage piece by piece. If you get a plan with less coverage, it may cost less. Unfortunately, you won't be covered as well. There are even plans that cover only for emergencies and emergency hospital stays. It is a bare-bones package that may be adequate for some people.

Another option is available to those who are under age 26. If you're under 26, you may be able to get on your parents health insurance plan. This is due to the new health care law allowing such. If you're parents are willing to allow this, it could help you out a lot until you get another job.

Hopefully, your unemployment is only temporary, but you should find an option for some amount of health insurance because emergencies can come at any time. You could get sick or injured at any time, and without health insurance, it could easily cost you thousands of dollars or more out of pocket.

Planning the Tournament - Taking Care of Your Kids

The primary duty of any professional educator who takes students on the road is to protect and care for the children in his charge. Even on a teacher salary, he or she must protect them from harm and tend to their needs. Young coaches often forget their care giving duties in the intensity of the competition. When I first started out, I expected my kids to pretty much take care of themselves at a tournament. As I grew older, I learned of different ways.

Early Days, Early Mistakes

As a twenty-something on my first job, I treated the wrestling tournament like a big classroom to be properly supervised. My job was to make sure my students behaved themselves and wrestled hard. I had been taught about the importance of education, but less about things like food, water, and medical care. It was years before I even carried a medical kit. Kids had parents. These parents gave them money. There was a concession stand. I had the whole thing under control. Years later, when I ran my own tournament, I considered the other coaches and made sure they and the table workers had a decent hospitality room, but I still left my wrestlers to their own devices when it came to eating. I was not totally heartless; I sometimes provided them with oranges or energy bars. I warned them against the evils of those sugar straws, but they still ordered up nachos with jalapenos at 9:00 a.m., and ate them with relish.

The Parent Brigade

As I got older, I began to realize that I was an adult watching over children, and I needed to do more. When boys came off the mat after wrestling their hearts out and complained of headaches and fever, I gave them ibuprofen and Tylenol and didn't tell a soul. I wasn't supposed to do it, but I'd be damned if my boys were going to suffer. Later, I organized efficient parent volunteer brigades for duals and tri matches. I saw to it my boys got sandwiches and drinks before every match; morale and performance improved accordingly. The only problem was the big water coolers making huge messes on gym floors. Most teams cleaned up after a long, hard day. Some didn't. And of course, there were the few who insisted on taking their child out for McDonald's during break times instead of bringing the food in. I don't know which I hated more.

The Package Deal

Lately some of the bigger, better run tournaments are doing something very simple that takes care of many of the age-old problems of feeding kids at tournaments: the Event Pass. Coaches still had to pay the entry fee, but for twenty-five dollars, which the parents paid, a child would get a pancake breakfast after weigh ins, an event t-shirt, two drinks, and an all you can eat pizza buffet during set hours, along with cotton candy. Cost for the tournament was probably fifteen dollars a head, but it's better to get half price out of a hundred people than full price out of twenty-five. If you can come up with a package that assures a profit per kid, then it's a good deal. Otherwise, go piecemeal and you'll make more.

Making sure the wrestlers are well taken care if is the primary duty of any coach. If the parents see you looking after their child as those he were your own, they'll reward you with faith and support. Either way, you come out ahead.

Is this something that would interest you? Is this something that you want to be a part of? There are many steps you can take to dramatically increase your chances of playing collegiate basketball and getting a basketball recruiting scholarship. To be successful, you must take control of this process and you must learn how to maximize your chances of obtaining the NCAA basketball recruiting scholarship you are seeking.

Today, the NCAA basketball scholarship recruiting process is highly sophisticated; and, in most cases, demands that student/athletes know how to market themselves. Many well-intentioned coaches, parents, and high school guidance counselors, who are advising student-athletes today, do not understand the steps in the recruiting process.

Experts agree that the most prized commodity in the "game" of athletic recruiting is information. College coaches and prospective college athletes both succeed or fail by information or the lack of information. Athletes need to know where they can receive a scholarship, and how to go about getting one; college coaches need to know about athletes who will best fit their programs.

As a student athlete, you can help your chances of "winning" an NCAA basketball recruiting scholarship by following the Top 10 Tips listed below.

1) Demonstrate superior athletic ability----You don't have to be an absolute superstar, but you must have talent.

2) Get in the best physical condition you possibly can. Obtain a great conditioning program and STICK WITH IT. Playing at your optimal potential is only possible when you are in top physical form.

3) Become a student of the game. Know your position inside and out.

4) Become fundamentally sound. Work on your shooting hand mechanics, free throws, jump shots, dribbling, etc.. as often as possible.

5) In the off-season stay focused on your strength training and vertical jump and you will see drastic improvement.

6) Learn about the mental game of basketball and how it impacts your success.

7) Play pick-up games as often as possible and vary your pick-up game competition as much as possible.

8) Get and keep yourself eligible by passing the required academic courses with a satisfactory GPA. Score the required entrance score on the SAT or ACT.

9) Conduct yourself in a manner that calls positive attention to yourself. Coaches shy away from possible problem athletes who might bring negative attention and disgrace to their programs.

10) Undoubtedly, it is imperative to learn how to promote yourself to college coaches. The sooner a college coach knows about you, the better your chances are of getting a scholarship.

Why You Should Consider Dog Insurance

Although dog insurance is something that has been on the market for about two decades, there are still many pet owners who are not aware that pet health insurance is available and are even surprised to learn it is an option. However, because the pets are very often considered a part of the family, learning about the availability of pet health insurance is usually very good news to dog owners.

Anyone can relate to this sentiment of relief, if they have ever been faced with having to either clean out their savings account or run up their credit card balance in order to take care of an unexpected emergency. Having a pet plan can help to lighten the burden of the expenses related to a surgical procedure, long-term care for serious conditions, such as cancer and other types of diseases or emergency care due to injury or accident.

Without cover, some dog owners are faced with the awful decision of having to put their animal to sleep because the cost of proper health care is just too much for the family budget.

It is often a heartbreaking situation when a pet owner is faced with a choice of either paying for expensive, but needed, veterinary pet procedures or being able to properly care for the needs of the rest of the family in the household. This dilemma often results in the agonizing decision of having to put the pet down. This is just the kind of situation that illustrates the immense value, in emotional terms, of having dog insurance to assure the well-being and the health needs of the family dogs.

Just as with other health care expenses, the costs associated with veterinarian care for pets is also rising with each passing year. This fact has made the idea of acquiring insurance to cover the animal welfare and health concerns a more attractive option.

It has also made pet health insurance a more financially smart move for families. It is much easier to work a small cover premium for dog health insurance into the household budget than it is to try to come up with hundreds, or even thousands of dollars if an emergency arises.

If you own more than one dog, then insurance coverage for all of them makes even more sense. Just making sure that each dog has received the vaccinations, health screenings and booster shots on an annual basis can stretch a budget to the breaking point. This situation can lead the owners to decide to skip the routine health care steps that should be taken to prevent illness and diseases.

In most cases, a comprehensive animal cover policy will also cover wellness and preventative care procedures. Fortunately, most the pet insurance company policies seem to support the approach of taking preventive measures, with regard to animal welfare. It is well-documented that taking preventative measures and supporting wellness care will reduce the potential for serious health issues for the pet later down the road.

For this reason, seeking out companies that offer insurance coverage that includes preventative care is a prudent course of action. The fact that an animal cover company offers such coverage speaks to their commitment and philosophy about prevention of animal disease and the importance of animal welfare in general.

Preventative care coverage is the most expensive type of dog insurance that you can purchase, but may not be in every families' budget. In this case, it is often wise to opt for a policy that will pay for major veterinary pet bills.

This is an effective way to lower monthly premium, but you will need to be prepared to handle the routine veterinarian visits out of your own pocket. Finding a pet insurance company that offers policies that cover wellness care is a positive sign and a good indicator about the kind of company with whom you are dealing.

Viatical Life Settlement Companies

There are very few industries that have expanded as rapidly as the viatical settlement industry. Considering that the target markets for the various firms associated with this industry are the elderly and the dying, it is especially important that advisors practice due diligence and care in researching both the companies involved and the benefits promoted.

In choosing companies to approach, a viator should consider a lot of things. Firstly, does the company hold a license in the policyholder's state? Many companies are also practicing illegally, not having met the licensing requirements in any of the states that require licensing. The State Department of Insurance must verify the license status of every viatical company.

Another point to consider is if the company is eligible to do business in at least two of the better-regulated states of New York, Washington, and/or Florida. Any company that doesn't hold a license in at least 2 of the above-mentioned states should be looked at suspiciously. On the other hand, any company that has the license of three or more of the above states should be given top priority when under consideration.

Also, the viator's policy must fit the company's size requirement and minimum third-party rating requirements. The viatical company should also guarantee confidentiality in writing. There should not be any charges levied. The viator should not be charged any fee (for example, medical underwriting fee, application fee, due diligence fee, etc.).

Viatical companies either purchase life insurance policies through viatical brokers, or there are companies that specialize in negotiating these policies for the highest offer on behalf of the policy owner.

With so much conflicting information, it is often difficult to figure out the legitimate firms. Those who are considering the use of a viatical settlement - either to sell an existing policy or to invest their money - must exercise caution at all times.

How Body Armour Functions

You must have landed on this page in search for truth. Yes, body armour may be a common term but somewhere between the lines you really are not sure what it is, where to find them and how it functions. There may be more questions lingering in your mind but as you browse through the net, the information you have gathered may have even made your understanding more perplexing than it was before.

If this is your first time, it can be quite confusing since ballistic vest is varied. They come in different styles, types, kinds and levels of resistance capacity. In short, you still have a lot of learning to do. First, let us understand what it is.

Bullet proof vest is a protective clothing a person wears in order to repel ballistic impact. Once the bullet is released from the rifle and hits the vest, the bullet will then be caught between the fibers of the fabric, gradually minimizing its velocity until it reaches to a full stop before penetrating through the skin of the wearer. Although it is not a guarantee that the ballistic vest will prevent a person from experiencing blunt force trauma cause by the strong impact of the bullet, at least he is assured of evading gun wounds and other serious injury.

Next, you need to know that resistant vest comes in various designs. Some are made for tactical purposes and others are designed to be concealable which can be worn daily without getting noticed. This is recommended for businessmen, politicians, secret agents and the like. This can be worn underneath your daily wear. It's very thin and light and can be availed in black or white color. Military or tactical vest on the other hand are much bulkier and heavier and are more conspicuous when worn.

Apart from its size and weight, these ballistic vests are also capable of resisting variety of ammunitions. Lighter or lower levels of resistant vest can also repel lower types of handguns like 9mm while higher levels of resistance capacity can withstand the ballistic impact coming from AK-47.

Another thing is, the higher the level of resistance the more costly it can be as well. However, unlike before these vests can now be bought in a much affordable prices. Manufacturers have discovered lighter materials that costs lesser than the materials used before.

So when buying for one, make sure that you already know not only the functions of bullet proof vests but also why you need to wear one. It is vital to figure out where to use it, why you need to don resistant vest, which reliable supplier to procure your gear and the size among the many pertinent factors to be considered.

Lastly, bear in mind that wearing one is not a 100% guarantee. You also need to equip yourself with proper training on self-defense. Alertness is also important so as to evade danger and possible threat that is coming your way.

The Importance of an Opt-in List

I admit, at the beginning, I really didn't understand the point of having a mailing list. I'll just send them through my website and get them the first time. While you can do that, the percentage of people who will buy from you the first time is very small. So small it's a small wonder you can get a sale at all. That sale is dependent on having a good ad copy and product as well. It all has to line up and work.

A lot of new marketers don't understand how important it is to build your opt-in list as you also perfect your sales page. I think it's even more important if you are using paid traffic to get people to your site. Since you are now paying for that person to come there you need to do the best you can to get that sale. If they click your ad and land on your site, but click away without buying you've lost a potential customer and some advertising money. Since you can't keep everyone from leaving, you've got to have another way to keep that visitor somehow.

Here we have the opt-in list. By having a visitor give you their contact information, usually a name and email address, you can now stay in their heads long after they've left your site. You have a better chance to sell to them later. You may end up selling them an affiliate product and not your own. If you had not gathered that visitor's email address they would have been lost and never seen again, but since you have it, you have a shot at selling to them and keeping them later, as well as building trust in you that you know your business well enough for them to buy from you later.

What Is Skin Cancer? Risk Factors and Detection

Our bodies are made up of individual cells which are designed to reproduce, allowing for growth and an extended, healthy life. By serving their purpose, reproducing, and dying, they leave new, fresh, and fully functional cells to continue to perform bodily functions. After many cycles of reproduction, due to natural cellular degeneration over time or outside influences causing mutations, some cells fail to reproduce and die at the normal rate, and can start reproducing too much and form growths. These growths may be benign, or they may be malignant, in which case they are referred to as cancerous tumors. Ultraviolet radiation can cause skin cells to mutate and create growths, some benign and some malignant. What is a benign growth and what is skin cancer is a question you should ask your doctor.

If you have a rash, lump, or wound that doesn't seem to heal, this could be a cancerous tumor. Rather than ignoring these symptoms, you should see a doctor and find out what they are, although something like this should be an obvious reason to talk to a doctor regardless of the cancer risk.

The symptoms mentioned above may indicate squamous or basal cell carcinoma, which are the two most common nonmelanoma skin cancers. Squamous cells are the top layer of the skin. They are round and flat and protect against the environment. Beneath this layer of cells are the basal cells, which can also form tumors.

Most people have an average of 10 to 40 moles or nevi, which are benign, noncancerous growths. They often appear in the face, back, and arms, places which are frequently exposed to sunlight. Nevi are growths formed from mutated melanocytes, the cells which pigment the skin. These are located between the dermis, where sweat glands and hair follicles are located, and the epidermis, made up of basal and squamous cells. Melanocyte growths which turn cancerous are called melanoma.

Check your skin regularly for any abnormalities, especially if you have dysplastic nevi, which are irregularly shaped moles. If these nevi change in any way, including in size, shape, color or texture, or if the surrounding tissue becomes irritated, you should consult a doctor. If a new dysplastic nevi forms on your body, a doctor may want to do a biopsy to see if it is cancerous. This is generally done by removing the entire mole, and this may be all the treatment you need to get rid of the cancer. If the cancer is allowed to metastasize, additional tumors may form in other parts of the body by wandering cancerous cells which reproduce elsewhere, so early detection is extremely important.

You should not expose yourself to UV radiation if you can avoid it. When you go out in the sun, you should use sunscreen or protective clothing. Do not tan yourself too much and avoid sunburns, and do not use tanning beds. New research shows that tanning beds are an important risk factor for melanoma, which is the most serious form of skin cancer.

Ask a doctor if you have any suspicious irregularities in your skin, and familiarize yourself with your skin and moles so you can do self-examinations. Any irregularity should be examined by a doctor, who can tell you what is skin cancer and what may be a normal growth or another condition.

Can Special Education Personnel Pick And Choose Services And What About Waiting Lists?

Have you been told by special education personnel that they do not provide Applied Behavioral Analysis therapy, for children with autism? Have you been told that your school district only provides certain services, due to money issues? Is your child on a waiting list for educational or related services? This article will discuss whether the Individuals with Disabilities Educational Act (IDEA), allows special education personnel to only provide certain services to children with a disability. Also discussed, are children put on waiting lists for related and educational services.

IDEA defines special education as: specially designed instruction at no cost to the parents, to meet the unique needs of a child with a disability...

The purpose of IDEA is to provide an education that meets a child's unique needs and prepares the child for further education, employment and independent living.

Special Education Personnel cannot pick and choose which services that they are going to offer to children with disabilities. That having been said, many school personnel do try and limit what services that they will give children. This is the reason why it is critical that you stand up to special education personnel, who may ruin your child's life by not giving them the services that they need.

If special education personnel try and limit your child's services, ask them to show you, under what authority they have the right to deny your child needed educational services (there isn't any). Remember what special education is-special designed instruction to meet the unique needs of your child.

Also, consider getting an Independent Educational Evaluation (IEE) of your child to prove what services that your child needs. The evaluator can participate in an IEP meeting by telephone, when the evaluations recommendations are discussed.

Waiting lists are also not allowed under IDEA. The difficulty is that when special education personnel state that they are putting your child on a waiting list, it sounds like it could be reasonable. It is not until you find out that waiting lists are not allowed, that you realize that you have been deceived. Always ask special education personnel to prove to you in writing, that what they are saying is the truth. If they cannot show you in writing that what they said is truthful; it probably is not.

For Example: Your 3 year old child with autism needs Applied Behavioral Analysis Treatment. The special education personnel, tells you that the class is full, and that they are waiting for additional funding for a new class. But in the mean time, your child will be put on a waiting list. Write them a letter, documenting what they said, and ask them to show you where it states in federal or state law, that they are allowed to have waiting lists (they aren't). File for a state complaint for violation of your child's rights.

By understanding what special education personnel can and cannot do under IDEA, helps you in your advocacy efforts for your child. Do not give up fighting for an appropriate education for your child, or their life may be forever ruined!
